3D Airspace and Terrain

We've finished a new Maxx III firmware that displays airspaces and terrain in 3D.

Under Screen Options in the menu, you can choose whether airspaces are shown in 2D as before or in the new 3D view with terrain.

The update rate of the 3D view is 0.5–1 Hz. It can't go faster due to the hardware – this is not a bug.

AirspaceCeiling sets the altitude up to which airspaces are displayed. Airspaces whose lower limit lies above this value are hidden. This keeps the display from being cluttered with airspaces that aren't relevant to us. The warnings still work – including for hidden airspaces.

The Glide Ratio set in the settings determines which airspace is shown in the footer. The calculation considers the full range of possible flight paths – from flat gliding (infinite glide ratio) down to the configured Glide Ratio. For each flight path, the distance to the nearest reachable airspace is calculated. If an airspace ahead of us is not shown in the footer, it lies below our possible glide path – we can fly over it, so it isn't relevant.

HX airspaces in Switzerland can be switched on or off with a long press on the Remote Control.

When you are inside an airspace, it is displayed transparently. The arrows with the negative distance values show the shortest way out of the airspace – both horizontally and vertically.
